It’s almost time to start thinking about New Year’s parties….and resolutions.

As much as they make you grumble, this year you should definitely set a few goals. It’s super easy to do, and you’ll feel great when you’ve accomplished your goals.

Just follow our easy steps to personal progress!

Step 1:
Get out that pen and pad of paper and start writing! Start brainstorming those ideas you’ve been throwing around all year. Once you have a long list, pick 1-3 goals you think you can realistically accomplish. It’s silly to try and tackle all of them, because you will be spreading yourself too thin. Also, pick resolutions that are within reach, goals you can achieve within a reasonable amount of time.

Step 2:
Be specific about your resolutions, because it will make it much easier for you. Instead of resolving to not sit on the couch as much, try saying that you exercise more. Perhaps set a specific goal to join a sports team, or sign up for a fun dance class.

Step 3:
Take your goals that are larger and make them smaller. A weight loss goal is a good example of this. Commit to losing weight by doing one or two things. Research the best ways to lose weight by consulting weight loss informational sites like Weigh The FAQs. If exercising and healthy eating practices are not within your budget of time, research weight loss products on review sites such as WeightLossLifeLine.com. Being an informed and smart shopper is another great goal to set for yourself if you tend to impulse buy.

Step 4:
To help you keep up your goals, find alternative behaviors to the ones you are trying to get rid of. For instance, if your resolution is to stop watching as much TV, then find other activities, like reading, to replace the habit. If reading isn’t your thing, then look into community classes that interest you to fill up your schedule. If you keep yourself busy enough, you won’t have time to watch any TV!

Step 5:
Tell your friends and family about your goals, no matter how embarrassing they are. They can provide you with much needed support on your journey. If you’re someone who is easily distracted, this is a great way to make sure you stay on track with your goals.

Good luck!
